Groton Community Church's "Christmas Comes in August" Movies to Beat the

The  line-up of movies:
"Benny and Joon" (PG) on Aug. 11, "The Bishop's Wife (G) on Aug. 18, and "Don Juan DeMarco" (PG-13) on Aug. 25. McDonald Hockey School Camp

Where:JM Mcdonald Sports Complex
The JM Mcdonald Sports Complex is pleased to announce that we will be offering the McDonald Hockey School from August 30-September 4. The camp will run from early afternoon through the early evening, Monday thru Friday with optional bonus time on Saturday morning. The focus of the camp will be on learning and having fun playing hockey. Participants will develop their skating, passing and shooting skills. The camp is open to anyone in the Mite-Bantam age groups. The camp will be coached by Don Armstrong and Mike Whittaker, the Cortland, Homer High Schools Hockey Coaches. Ithaca Brew Fest

Introduction to Yoga for Seniors

Barn Dance to Benefit Farmland Protection in Central New York

The Preble-based, non-profit organization New York Agricultural Land Trust (NYALT) wishes to invite their neighbors, friends and all those who enjoy live music and dancing to a fall barn dance fundraiser. The dance will feature two popular local bands – country western and square dance music by the Rythmaires and rock and roll by Spilt Milk. For one day in September, in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State, you will buckle your helmet, put your feet to the pedals, and ride 100 miles closer to a world without AIDS. You'll be cheered, fed, and celebrated for a ride you'll never forget. This 12th Annual Ithaca tradition brings together hundreds of riders, volunteers, and sponsors. The Ride has raised almost $1.5 million for local HIV/AIDS services in its eleven-year history. In 2009, we celebrated the 11th anniversary of the ride and raised over $250,000. The Rhiner Festival

'The Country Fair Comes to the Rhine' Saturday, September 11th, 2010 A Street Festival on Inlet Island - noon to 6pm (and later!). The West End Waterfront Festival is a community celebration on Inlet Island and the surrounding area. This unique event begins with a day-long community celebration with music, arts and crafts, theatrical performances, old-fashioned games for kids, fortune tellers and belly dancers. The public will be invited to try and solve a mystery which unfolds in scenes throughout the day; and one lucky sleuth will receive a very special prize. At night, Old Taughannock Blvd, aka: ‘Moonshine Island’ will come alive with speakeasy parties, music, vaudeville performances, costume parties, and games of chance. Corning Community College will host Reunion 2010

Schuyler County League To Hear From School Superintendents

The Schuyler County League of Women Voters will meet for a luncheon meeting to hear from three area school superintendents. Wendy Field, Bradford, James Frame, Odessa Montour  and Thomas Philips, Watkins Glen will discuss the current challenges faced by school districts relative to reduced revenues and other challenges. The Ithaca Waterfront Motorcycle Ride for cops, kids, and toys will be held on Sunday, September 19. The bike ride registration and breakfast will start at 9:30am and goes til 11am. Summer Dancing on the Ithaca Commons

Tompkins County Country Dances present Summer Dancing on the Ithaca Commons. Contra, Square, Circle, and Couple Dancing Live music, all dances taught, beginners welcome. EVERY Monday, June 6 until it gets too cold (sometime in late September) 7:30-10pm Ithaca Commons Main Pavilion (Bernie Milton Pavilion). The series is intended for both "regular" dancers and the walk-in public. We encourage passers-by to join in, even if only for a few minutes...and many of them stay for the evening. Music is provided by "Your Friends and Neighbors", an open band for musicians. New musicians are welcome; sheet music is available. If you can walk, you can do it; over the years, even a few wheelchair dancers have joined in! Occasional squares dances are thrown into the mix, and even a few circle dances when the crowd gets big. Out of the Rubble Gala

The Gala is a chance for citizens of the United States to come together as a group to say “Thank You” to our Servicemen and Women, Police, Fire Fighters and Paramedics. This event will serve as a national hug (per se) to those who have laid their lives on the line and especially those who have been wounded in battle, either overseas or on U.S. soil. This wonderful event is a fundraiser for the Liberty Lodge, a place for our Real American Heroes to come, rehabilitate while leaving the dusts of war behind them.  Liberty Lodge will be able to utilize the proceeds from this Gala to add on to their existing lodge, plus build other larger facilities to take care of these Real American Heroes. Furthermore, they will be able to provide a relaxing setting for our wounded Veterans, wounded Police Officers, wounded Fire Fighters and wounded Paramedics and their families. Cancer Resource Center's 17th Annual Walkathon & 5K Run

The Walkathon & Run is the signature fundraising and outreach event for the Cancer Resource Center.
